About KLM Cityhopper

KLM Cityhopper (ICAO: KLC) is a significant regional airline operating as a subsidiary of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. It plays a crucial role in connecting passengers from smaller European airports to KLM's global network via its main hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

KLM Cityhopper was established on April 1, 1991, through the merger of two Dutch regional carriers, NLM CityHopper and NetherLines. NLM CityHopper itself had roots dating back to 1966 as a regional subsidiary of KLM. This merger aimed to enhance regional connectivity and consolidate KLM's presence in the European market. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of KLM, it operates all flights under the KLM flight designator (KL), seamlessly integrating into the parent company's global network.

The airline's main operational base and sole pilot base is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), which serves as its primary hub. KLM Cityhopper operates a modern, all-Embraer fleet, currently consisting of Embraer 175, Embraer 190, and the newer Embraer 195-E2 aircraft. This transition to an all-Embraer fleet was completed by 2017, replacing older Fokker aircraft. Its fleet size is around 66 aircraft, with an average age of approximately 8.3 years as of December 2024.

KLM Cityhopper operates scheduled European feeder services, serving approximately 80 destinations across Europe. Its route network focuses on short-haul routes to business centers and niche leisure destinations, supporting both business and leisure travel and feeding into KLM's intercontinental network. Through its parent company, KLM, KLM Cityhopper is an affiliate member of the SkyTeam alliance, allowing passengers to enjoy alliance benefits and earn Flying Blue miles. Onboard, KLM Cityhopper offers a two-class cabin service: Europe Business Class and Economy Class, with Economy Comfort seats also available for purchase, offering additional legroom. Complimentary drinks and refreshments are provided on all scheduled flights, with Business Class passengers receiving continental breakfast boxes, sandwiches, and dinner salads.
