Segrave, an experienced aviator, had previously founded Segrave Aviation in 1994, which was later sold to Delta AirElite in 2010. Following the expiration of a non-compete agreement, he launched Exclusive Jets in 2015, which was subsequently rebranded as flyExclusive to avoid confusion with other companies.

The company's main operational base and headquarters are located in Kinston, North Carolina, specifically at the Kinston Regional Jetport (KISO). flyExclusive operates a "floating fleet" model, allowing their aircraft to be strategically positioned at various hubs to reduce unnecessary flight legs and enhance availability.
