About Braathens Regional Airways
Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA), operating under the ICAO code BRX and IATA code TF, is a Swedish regional airline headquartered at Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN). The airline's legacy dates back to the Braathens family establishing their first airline in 1946. Formed in 2016 through the merger of several regional carriers like Golden Air, Gotlandsflyg, and Malmö Aviation under the ownership of Braganza, it initially aimed to unify regional aviation in Scandinavia.
As of December 2024, BRA discontinued its own scheduled passenger services, transitioning to focus exclusively on wet lease (ACMI) operations and ad hoc charters. Its primary hub for these operations is Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN), following the cessation of services from its former main operational base at Stockholm Bromma Airport (BMA) at the end of 2024. The airline also maintains a secondary base at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) and a crew base in Vienna (VIE) to support its wet-lease agreement with Austrian Airlines. Ängelholm–Helsingborg Airport (RNB) serves as a key maintenance base for its ATR fleet.
BRA's current fleet, as of November 2025, consists of 17 modern ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, with an average age of 8.2 years. While Airbus A320-family jets were part of its historical fleet, they are being phased out by 2027 following the bankruptcy of its charter division in September 2025. The airline is not a member of any major global airline alliances like Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld, instead focusing on providing flexible wet-lease solutions to partner carriers such as Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Austrian Airlines.
