Air Nostrum, operating as Iberia Regional, is a Spanish regional airline established on May 23, 1994. Its inaugural flight took place on December 15, 1994, from Valencia to Bilbao with a Fokker 50 aircraft. Over the years, it grew to become one of Europe's largest regional aviation companies. In May 1997, it signed a franchise agreement with the Iberia Group, leading to its current operating name. In October 2023, Air Nostrum merged with CityJet to form the Strategic Alliance of Regional Airlines (SARA), with Air Nostrum shareholders holding an 80% controlling interest.
The airline's main base is Valencia Airport, with hubs at Barcelona–El Prat Airport, Madrid–Barajas Airport, and Palma de Mallorca Airport. Air Nostrum's fleet is designed for regional aviation, featuring CRJ 200 and CRJ 1000 jets with capacities of 50 and 100 seats, respectively, and ATR 72-600 turboprops with 72 seats. As of August 2025, the fleet consists of 40 aircraft, with 20 Airlander 10 aircraft on order for delivery from 2027.
Air Nostrum operates over 200 daily flights to or from 60 airports in 9 countries across Europe and North Africa, focusing on domestic and international connection flights to and from Madrid, as well as niche markets and Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes. It is an affiliate member of the Oneworld airline alliance. While it previously offered a comprehensive meal service and a "regional business class," the airline now offers separate business and economy sections, with economy passengers able to purchase drinks and snacks. Air Nostrum also provides charter flights, third-party maintenance services, and aircraft leasing.
