EVA Air will operate four weekly nonstop flights between Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) beginning June 26, 2026, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The aircraft is a Boeing 787-9 configured with 26 Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy seats, and 224 Economy seats—278 seats in total (EVA Air press release).
The route is historically significant: EVA Air becomes the first Taiwanese carrier ever to serve Washington Dulles and the Washington D.C. metropolitan region. Westbound block time is approximately 15.5 hours (TPE→IAD); eastbound is roughly 14 hours.
With this addition, EVA Air's North American network grows to 10 gateways—the largest from Taiwan to the Americas—and total weekly frequencies reach 98. The Washington launch follows the 2025 inauguration of EVA Air's Dallas-Fort Worth route, which made it the only Asian airline serving two Texas destinations (Taipei Times). Sabre data cited by Aviation Week shows approximately 40,000 two-way passengers traveled between Taiwan and Washington in 2025, with most connecting through Los Angeles or San Francisco (Aviation Week).
Dulles serves as a Star Alliance hub for United Airlines, EVA Air's key partner; the pairing is expected to extend EVA Air's effective reach to more than 200 Americas destinations via onward connections.
