Azul Brazilian Airlines will inaugurate a new nonstop domestic route between Pelotas International Airport (PET) in Rio Grande do Sul and Campinas Viracopos International Airport (VCP) in São Paulo state on October 26, 2026, the airline announced September 4. The service was confirmed by Brazilian aviation trade publication Panrotas, regional newspaper Jornal do Comércio, and Aviation Week's Routes & Networks column.
Flights will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays using Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which seat 136 passengers. Azul estimates the route will produce more than 2,000 monthly seats across 16 round trips per month, per Aviation Week.
Viracopos (VCP) is Azul's primary hub, giving Pelotas passengers a direct connection to roughly 60 onward domestic destinations as well as the carrier's international network to the United States, Europe, and South America, the airline said. Azul Senior Route Planning Manager Beatriz Barbi said the route "expands travel options between the Southeast and the South of the country and reinforces our strategy of offering direct connections that meet our customers' needs," per Panrotas.
In its inaugural week (October 26–30), the outbound Campinas–Pelotas service departs at 10:55 AM, arriving at 12:55 PM; the return departs Pelotas at 1:35 PM, arriving at Campinas at 3:25 PM. From November onward, schedules shift to afternoon departures. No previous scheduled nonstop service existed between the two airports.
