Notable features or history: Originally established as Hull Field in the early 1950s, it was acquired by the City of Sugar Land in 1990 and renamed Sugar Land Municipal Airport. It received its current name, Sugar Land Regional Airport, in October 2002,. The airport has undergone extensive upgrades, including a new 20,000-square-foot passenger terminal opened in 2006 and a reinforced concrete runway measuring 8,000 feet by 100 feet,,. It was named the Outstanding Airport of the Year in 1995 by the FAA Southwest Region.
