🇺🇸 Mobridge Municipal Airport

Mobridge Municipal Airport (KMBG) is a publicly owned, public-use general aviation airport located one nautical mile northeast of the central business district of Mobridge, Walworth County, South Dakota, United States. It is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems.

Type of Facility and Operations: The airport covers an area of 300 acres at an elevation of 1,716 feet above mean sea level. It features two runways:

• Runway 12/30: 4,410 by 75 feet with an asphalt pavement, in excellent condition, and equipped with medium intensity runway edge lights and 2-light PAPI on both ends.
• Runway 17/35: 2,399 by 250 feet with a turf surface, in good condition, but is closed during winter months and has reported gopher holes.

Mobridge Municipal Airport operates without a control tower. For the 12-month period ending June 28, 2010, the airport recorded 15,764 aircraft operations, primarily consisting of general aviation (98%), with a small percentage of air taxi (2%) and less than 1% military operations. Available services include 100LL, Jet-A, and MOGAS fuel, as well as minor airframe and powerplant repair services.

Notable Features or History: The airport was activated in July 1959. While no specific historical events were highlighted, the presence of wildlife on and in the vicinity of the airport is noted. The airport also has an automated weather observing system (ASOS).

Current Status: Mobridge Municipal Airport is currently operational and open to the public. Airport attendance is typically Monday through Friday from 0900 to 1800, and Saturdays on call from 0900 to 1800, with the FBO closed on Sundays. As of July 2024, the airport is undergoing an Airport Master Plan study, expected to be completed in the Fall of 2025. This plan aims to evaluate existing infrastructure, define the airport's role, and identify future needs in compliance with FAA guidelines.
