🇪🇹 Baco Airport

Baco Airport (HABC/BCO) is a public airport serving the town of Jinka in southern Ethiopia, sometimes known as Jinka Airport. It is not a private airport or airfield without scheduled commercial service.

• Location: Approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) south of Jinka town center, Ethiopia. Coordinates are N5°47.00' / E36°33.00'.
• Elevation: 4,300 feet MSL (other sources state 4,580 ft / 1,396 m or 4,475 ft).
• Runway: It has one asphalt runway, 12/30, measuring 2,500 by 45 meters (8,202 by 148 feet). The previous gravel runway was paved and extended in August 2017.
• Operations: The airport is open to the public. It is owned by the Federal Government of Ethiopia and operated by Ethiopian Airlines Group.
• Facilities: A new terminal, measuring about 3,500 square meters, was inaugurated on April 13, 2024, by Ethiopian Airlines after two years of construction. It features modern passenger service areas and dedicated VIP lounges.
• Airlines and Destinations: Ethiopian Airlines operates flights to Addis Ababa from Baco Airport.
• Purpose: It serves as a gateway to the Omo River Valley region.
