Tacheng Qianquan Airport (IATA: TCG, ICAO: ZWTC) serves as a vital air link for Tacheng Prefecture, a remote and culturally rich region in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The airport plays a crucial role in connecting this border area with the rest of the country, facilitating both regional tourism and business travel. While an earlier airfield existed nearby, the current Tacheng Qianquan Airport was a relocation and reconstruction project that officially opened for operations on July 24, 2010. Taxis are readily available for the 30-40 minute journey to the city, and it is common practice to agree on a fare with the driver before departure. An airport shuttle bus service, timed to coincide with flight schedules, also provides a more economical option for travel between the airport and key points in the city.

Operations at Tacheng Qianquan Airport are exclusively domestic. The flight schedule is limited, with the primary and most frequent route connecting to Ürümqi Diwopu International Airport (URC). Airlines such as China Southern Airlines and Tianjin Airlines are the main carriers serving this route, effectively making Tacheng a feeder airport for the larger hub. From Ürümqi, passengers can connect to numerous other destinations across China.

The airport features a single, modern terminal building designed for efficiency. Given its small size, facilities are functional and straightforward. Travelers will find a main check-in hall, a security screening area, and a basic departure lounge with seating. Amenities are limited but typically include small convenience stores for snacks and drinks and restroom facilities. There are no dedicated airline lounges or extensive shopping and dining options. For travelers, it is advisable to arrive 90 minutes prior to their scheduled departure. Due to the limited number of daily flights, booking tickets well in advance is recommended. Passengers should also be prepared for potential weather-related delays, particularly during winter.
