Jiaxing Airport / Jiaxing Air Base (ZSJX (JNH))
Jiaxing Airport, also known as Jiaxing Nanhu Airport, is a dual-use civilian and military airport located in Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China, approximately 8 km from the city center. Originally established as Jiaxing Air Base, it underwent significant redevelopment to expand into a facility for both military and civilian operations.
Type of Facility and Operations: The airport is designed as a Class 4E dual-use facility, primarily functioning as a dedicated air cargo hub, while also supporting passenger flights. It is poised to serve the Yangtze River Delta region, focusing on freight transport for high-value exports, e-commerce parcels, and cross-border trade. Initial passenger routes connect to major Chinese cities, with plans for additional domestic and international passenger and cargo destinations.
Notable Features and History: Originally a military air base, an agreement for its redevelopment into a dual-use airport was made in 2009 between the Nanjing Military Region and the Zhejiang Provincial Government. Construction of the civilian facilities commenced in November 2022, and the name "Jiaxing Nanhu Airport" was approved in June 2024. The airport features a 3,400-meter by 50-meter runway, a 25,900-square-meter passenger terminal, and 56 aircraft parking positions. Its terminal design incorporates glass walls and aluminum roof panels shaped like azaleas, Jiaxing's city flower. The project is backed by YTO Express, aiming to establish a next-generation logistics hub.
Current Status: Jiaxing Nanhu Airport officially began operations on December 26, 2025, becoming the ninth civil aviation airport in Zhejiang Province. It has designed annual capacities of 1.8 million passengers and 1.1 million tons of cargo and mail. Upon opening, it launched initial passenger routes with airlines such as China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and Loong Air, and all-cargo services by YTO Cargo Airlines. Plans for additional routes to various cities in China and international operations to destinations in the United States, Japan, Thailand, Canada, and Germany are in place for early 2026. The airport is sometimes referred to as "Shanghai's third airport" and "Hangzhou's second airport" due to its strategic proximity.
