It has historically supported offshore oil operations in the South China Sea, transporting workers and supplies to drilling platforms. The facility has a single runway, 11H/29H, which is 2,150 feet (655 meters) long, and offers JET A-1 fuel. The heliport, which opened in 1983, is being replaced by the new Shenzhen Longhua Airport, expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
