The Coves Airstrip

The Coves Airstrip (ZA-0352) is a private airfield located within The Coves residential estate in Hartbeespoort, South Africa. It is one of a few aviation estates in South Africa, designed for residents with private aircraft.

• Usage: Primarily for private aviation by residents of The Coves, including sport flying, touring, and business flights. Some residents commute to work by plane or helicopter directly from the estate. There is also a dedicated area for a radio-controlled flying club. The runway is occasionally used as a helipad for emergency services for residents.
• Facilities: Aero Cove, a residential area within the estate, allows residents to taxi their aircraft from the runway directly to their homes and private hangars. Additional hangars are available for other residents.
• Access: Landing is restricted to visitors by invitation from a resident host, and an affordable monthly Aero Club fee is in place for aviators using the airstrip. Operations are limited to civil daylight hours due to nearby mountains.
• Historical Significance: The Coves has hosted an annual "Flying Carnival" (formerly Fly-in) since 2011, which has grown into a significant event for the local aviation community.
