Traditional taxi services are not available on Hamilton Island. Most accommodations provide complimentary shuttle bus transfers to and from the airport for their guests. These shuttles meet all arriving flights and should be confirmed with your hotel or holiday home prior to arrival.
Standard car rentals are not available as the island is largely car-free. The primary mode of self-drive transport is electric golf buggies (carts). These can be pre-booked online through the official Hamilton Island Buggy Hire or may be included with certain holiday home rentals. Advance booking is highly recommended.
A free Island Shuttle bus service operates continuously around the island on a loop. It connects the airport with key locations like the Marina Village, Catseye Beach, and various resort areas, providing a convenient and complimentary way to get around.
It is much nicer to fly into Proserpine Airport.
Seeing the amount of rock and soil they moved in order to contstruct this airport is mind-boggling.
