Bakalalan Airport (IATA: BKM, ICAO: WBGQ) is a small but essential airport serving the remote town of Bakalalan and the surrounding highland communities in the Limbang Division of Sarawak, Malaysia. Nestled deep within the Kelabit Highlands near the Indonesian border, it functions as a critical lifeline, providing the primary means of transport for local residents, supplies, and visitors. Its role is particularly vital given that overland travel to the region involves long and arduous journeys on rugged logging tracks, which can become impassable during periods of heavy rain.

Established as part of Malaysia's Rural Air Services (RAS) network, the airport was developed to overcome the geographical isolation of the Lun Bawang people who inhabit the area. It serves as a Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) port, designed to accommodate small, robust aircraft suited for challenging terrain. The airport is located just a short distance from the Bakalalan town center, making it easily accessible on foot or by pre-arranged 4x4 vehicles. There are no formal taxi or ride-sharing services available upon arrival.

Operations at Bakalalan Airport are exclusively domestic and are handled by MASwings, the regional community airline for East Malaysia. The airline operates flights using De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter turboprop aircraft, which are well-suited for the airport's short runway and the region's variable weather conditions. Regular scheduled flights connect Bakalalan with the larger coastal city of Miri (MYY) as well as other rural airstrips like Bario (BBN) and Lawas (LWY). Passenger volume is modest, primarily consisting of local community members, government workers, and a small number of eco-tourists.

The airport’s facilities are basic, reflecting its function as a rural airstrip rather than a commercial hub. The terminal consists of a single, small building that houses a check-in counter, a modest waiting area, and public restrooms. There are no retail shops, restaurants, or passenger lounges available.
