Located in the district of Rogojampi, the airport is situated approximately 17 kilometers southwest of Banyuwangi's city center, with a typical travel time of 30 to 45 minutes by car. Travelers can reach the airport via local taxis, app-based ride-hailing services like Grab or Gojek, or pre-arranged private vehicle transfers. Public transportation options to and from the airport are limited.

Operationally, Banyuwangi Airport primarily handles domestic routes connecting the region to major Indonesian hubs, including Jakarta (CGK) and Surabaya (SUB). Key airlines serving these routes include Citilink and Batik Air. While it holds an "international" designation, scheduled international flights are not consistently available. The airport accommodates several hundred thousand passengers annually, functioning as a vital link for both tourism and local commerce.

The single terminal provides a straightforward and pleasant travel experience. Facilities include check-in counters, a comfortable open-air waiting area, baggage claim, and a small executive lounge.
