Kooddoo Airport (IATA: GKK, ICAO: VRMO) serves as a vital domestic air link to the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, one of the northern sections of the vast Huvadhu Atoll in the southern Maldives. Its primary role is to facilitate access for tourists traveling to the numerous resorts in the region, significantly reducing what was once a lengthy sea journey from other airports. The airport is situated on Kooddoo Island, co-located with a fish processing facility and a resort, making it a unique hub of both industry and tourism.

Opened on August 10, 2012, the airport's development was a key milestone for the southern atolls. Its creation directly supported the expansion of tourism by providing a much faster and more convenient entry point for international visitors connecting through Malé. Prior to its existence, travelers faced longer transfers from the more distant Kaadedhdhoo Airport. The airport's infrastructure has since been upgraded, including a runway extension and resurfacing, to better accommodate the turboprop aircraft that service the route.

Kooddoo Airport exclusively handles domestic flights, with Maldivian, the national carrier, and Manta Air operating regular services to and from Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé. Upon landing at Kooddoo, travelers are typically met inside the arrivals area by representatives from their respective resorts. Onward travel is almost always by pre-arranged speedboat, with resort staff assisting with luggage and guiding guests to the nearby jetty for the final leg of their journey. For guests of the adjacent Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, the transfer is a simple walk or buggy ride from the terminal.

The airport itself is compact and functional, designed for efficient transit. The single terminal building contains a check-in area, a security screening point, and a modest departure lounge. While public facilities include a small café and restrooms, extensive shopping and dining options are not available. A notable feature is the presence of private air-conditioned lounges operated by several luxury resorts in the atoll. These lounges offer complimentary refreshments, Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating for their guests awaiting speedboat transfers.

For travelers, it is advisable to arrive at least 60 to 90 minutes before a departing flight. All onward transfers must be arranged with your resort prior to your arrival at GKK, as independent transport options are not available. The connection process is generally seamless, with resort staff managing the logistics from baggage claim to the speedboat jetty, ensuring a smooth transition for visitors beginning or ending their Maldivian holiday.
