Taxis are available 24/7 at a designated rank outside the arrivals hall. They offer fixed, regulated fares for travel around Hulhumalé (the airport island) and to the capital city, Malé, via the Sinamalé Bridge. The journey to Malé city takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
Car rental is not a standard or practical option for tourists at Malé International Airport. Due to the small size of the islands, major international car rental companies do not operate here. Transportation between islands is done by speedboat, seaplane, or ferry.
Excellent public transport links are available. A frequent public ferry service connects the airport to the capital, Malé, with a journey time of about 10 minutes. The ferry terminal is a short walk from the airport. Additionally, air-conditioned public buses operate on routes connecting the airport with Hulhumalé and Malé city across the Sinamalé Bridge.
A very busy airport. Make sure you plan time for getting through immigration when booking any ferry boats.
