Taxis are the most common form of transport and are readily available outside the airport's arrival terminal. They provide service to destinations on Gan Island and the interconnected islands of Feydhoo, Maradhoo, and Hithadhoo via the Addu Link Road. Fares are generally fixed for specific zones, but it's always best to confirm the price with the driver beforehand.
There are no major international car rental agencies located at Gan International Airport. Vehicle rentals, particularly scooters and bicycles, are more common and can usually be arranged through your hotel or guesthouse. Limited car rental options may be available through local providers, but pre-booking is highly recommended.
A public bus service, operated by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) as part of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL), connects Gan with the other islands of Addu City. The bus route runs along the main road near the airport, providing an affordable way to travel. There are no train or subway services available.
A Denish airline is flying to Gan every Tuesday during the season. And Srilankan is operating 3 flights a week.
Gan airport is very 1st International Airport in the Maldives built by the RAF of UK in the beginning of 1960s. This huge and expensive gift from the British RAF has been left like a garbage by the Male' government. While other countries in around the Indian Ocean have used the British built infrastructure to build their econamies.
