The airport features one runway, designated 04/22, which is approximately 2,400 meters (7,874 feet) long with an asphalt surface. Its elevation is 3,566 feet (1,087 meters) above mean sea level.
Nong Khang Airport commenced operations in May 2023, replacing the smaller Nathong Airport. Construction of the airport began in 2013 but faced delays due to funding issues before its completion. It accommodates aircraft such as the ATR 72 and Xi'an MA-60, offering scheduled commercial flights to Vientiane through Lao Airlines and Lao Skyway. There are also plans for the airport to be upgraded to international status to further boost tourism and economic development in Houaphanh province.
