Berhampur Rangeilunda Airport serves Berhampur (Brahmapur), IN.
Berhampur Rangeilunda Airport (VEBP), also known as Brahmapur Airport, is located in Rangeilunda near Berhampur (Brahmapur) in the Ganjam district of Odisha, India. It is classified as a small public airport.
The airstrip, originally built by the British administration in 1936 during World War II for military purposes, has a rich historical background. After India's independence, it came under the management of the Government of Odisha's Public Works Department. Historically, the airport was primarily used for defense, state government flights, private charters, and VIP movements.
The airport features a single asphalt runway (18/36). While its length has varied over time, it was extended to 2,100 meters (6,890 feet) by 2023, designed to support small aircraft such as the Cessna 208 Caravan. A helipad is also available.
In 2018, the airport was designated for development as a regional airport under the UDAN scheme. Non-scheduled commercial operations briefly began on March 5, 2023, with flights to Bhubaneswar, but these services were suspended by mid-2024 due to low demand. The facility is also slated to host Odisha's first commercial airport drone test corridor and a dedicated Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) testing and training facility, alongside a flying training institute.
