🇮🇳 Barbil Tonto Airstrip

Barbil Tonto Airstrip (VEBL) is a public-private aerodrome located in Bhusugaon, near Barbil, in the Keonjhar district of Odisha, India. The facility is owned by the Government of Odisha and is leased to, operated, and maintained by Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) since June 6, 2018.

• It features a single asphalt runway designated 18/36, with reported lengths varying between approximately 3,255 feet (992 meters) and 3,600 feet (1,097 meters). The airstrip is situated at an elevation of about 1,615 to 1,624 feet (492-495 meters) above mean sea level. Communication is handled via VHF frequency 131.5 MHz, and no advanced navigation aids like ILS or radar are present.
• The primary use of Barbil Tonto Airstrip is to support industrial aviation for nearby mining operations and steel production activities, particularly for JSPL, by providing air access for executives and critical supplies. It also accommodates state government aircraft, helicopters, and private or chartered flights, with other companies like Tata Steel utilizing it due to the lack of runways in nearby areas. There is no scheduled commercial airline service at this facility.
