The airport features a single asphalt runway, 16/34, measuring 4,000 feet long by 75 feet wide (1,219 x 23 meters), at an elevation of 5,192 feet. Prior permission from Goulding's Lodge is required to land, and it is an unattended facility. The airstrip is primarily used for private aviation and sightseeing excursion flights, offering aerial views of Monument Valley. Landings are generally to the south (Runway 16) and takeoffs to the north (Runway 34) due to terrain, and the runway can be soft when wet. The airport was established prior to May 15, 1959, and its runway was paved in 2007 to support a Red Bull Air Race.
