Brackenridge Hospital Heliport serves Austin, US.
Brackenridge Hospital Heliport (US-9631) closed when Brackenridge Hospital, Austin's oldest public hospital, ceased operations on May 21, 2017. The hospital was replaced by the new Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas, which opened across the street.
Historically, the heliport supported Brackenridge Hospital as a Level 1 trauma center, with STARflight (Shock, Trauma, and Air Rescue) utilizing it to serve a multi-county region for emergency medical transport. The former Brackenridge Hospital site, including the heliport, is undergoing redevelopment by Central Health into a mixed-use innovation district. This redevelopment, which involves new office buildings, residential units, and retail, aims to generate revenue to fund healthcare for low-income Travis County residents. Demolition of the hospital tower began in the summer of 2019 and concluded in 2021.
