Lompoc Municipal Airport serves Lompoc, US.
The original Lompoc Municipal Airport, likely corresponding to the identifier US-9138, was established on November 4, 1928, between H and O Streets and College and Pine Avenues in what is now the center of Lompoc, US. During World War II, from 1942 to 1946, the U.S. Navy repurposed this site as an auxiliary blimp base for anti-submarine patrols. After the military abandoned the site in 1946, it briefly reverted to civilian use.
The original airport closed and was relocated in 1960 due to urban expansion and its proximity to the developing Vandenberg Air Force Base. The land of the original airport was subsequently sold, and the site is now occupied by Lompoc High School and Lompoc's first shopping center. A new Lompoc Airport (LPC/KLPC) was established approximately one mile north of the original site and remains operational today as a public general aviation airport.
