The Nyack Seaplane Base (US-4236) operated from 1946 to 1951. It was established by two ex-P-47 WWII pilots at the base of Main Street in Nyack, sharing facilities with the ferry dock terminal, and offered seaplane training using Piper J3 Cubs on floats. The base closed after a major storm damaged the dock and base in 1950, followed by a car crashing into the Quonset hangar and damaging planes in 1951.
Today, the site is part of the Nyack Marina and Memorial Park, which is a public facility on the Hudson River. While the seaplane base is defunct, the area continues to be a significant waterfront resource for the village.
