Graham Bell Airport / East Mesa Airport (US-3289) was located northeast of downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, at approximately 35.119, -106.584. The land was purchased in 1945 by Lewis Graham Sr. and Jack Bell, and Graham Bell Aviation Service was chartered on September 5, 1945. The airport was also known as East Mesa Airpark and was depicted with three unpaved runways and multiple hangars.
The airport closed in late 1952 due to a combination of factors, including a lawsuit in which an aircraft broke loose from its tie-downs and was destroyed, and the rapid expansion of Albuquerque to the northeast. The final operator, Marvin Downer, sold the property to housing developer Elmer Sproul.
Today, the site of the former airport is densely redeveloped, though Marvin Downer's original house and his mechanic's house are reportedly still standing. It is believed that the original basketball court in Kiva Park may have been built over the foundation of the airport's largest hangar.
