Historical information suggests that Wagon Wheels Ranch Airfield was established between 1945-1947 and was depicted as an auxiliary airfield on the 1946 Phoenix Sectional Chart. However, it was the subject of a 1948 court case due to neighbor complaints about airplane noise, which is presumed to be the reason for its closure. The last known depiction of the airfield was on the September 1948 Phoenix Sectional Chart, showing a 2,600' unpaved runway, and by March 1949, it was no longer listed. A 2015 aerial view showed no trace of the airport at its approximate site.
As there is no active airfield at this location, aspects such as terminal facilities, security wait times, customs/immigration, transportation, and parking are not applicable for current traveler experiences.
