Clinchfield Heliport (US-12330), also known by its local code VA05, was located approximately one mile northeast of Lebanon, Virginia. It was originally constructed in the 1950s by the Clinchfield Coal Company on the site of its Moss #3 Preparation Plant, which was then the world's largest coal preparation facility. The facility was initially an airfield with a 2,000-foot paved runway, used by small twin-engine planes, and was depicted on the January 1959 Winston-Salem Sectional Chart as a private airfield.
The airfield was abandoned sometime between 1974 and 1978, with rumors suggesting the FAA stopped its use, and by 1978, it was labeled "Landing Field (Abandoned)" on USGS topo maps. The FAA officially deleted the heliport on January 15, 2009. As of 2007, the northern end of the former runway was covered by a coal stockpile, though the southwestern half of the runway pavement remained intact.
