Air Logistics Amelia Base Heliport

The heliport was not physically closed or abandoned. The name 'Air Logistics Amelia Base Heliport' and its associated private identifier (US-11021) became defunct due to corporate consolidation and rebranding. The parent company, Offshore Logistics, Inc., which had previously acquired Air Logistics, officially changed its name to Bristow Group Inc. in 2006. The facility continued operations seamlessly under the new corporate identity.

The site is a major, fully operational helicopter base. It is now known as the Bristow Amelia Heliport (FAA LID: LA37) and is one of Bristow Group's primary shore bases for Gulf of Mexico operations. The facility features multiple helipads, large hangars for maintenance, passenger terminals, and administrative offices. It continues its original mission, deploying a large fleet of modern helicopters (such as the Sikorsky S-92 and Leonardo AW139) to service the offshore energy sector.

As a base for Air Logistics and later Offshore Logistics, this heliport was a historically significant and vital hub for the U.S. Gulf of Mexico offshore oil and gas industry. For decades, it served as a primary point of departure for helicopters transporting thousands of workers, essential cargo, and time-sensitive equipment to and from offshore production platforms and drilling rigs. Air Logistics, founded in 1946, was one of the pioneering companies in offshore helicopter transport, and this base was a cornerstone of its operations, contributing significantly to the growth of energy exploration in the Gulf and the local economy of St. Mary Parish.
