Flying W Ranch Airport

As a private airstrip, the closure was not due to public economic factors, military conversion, or a specific reported accident. This commonly includes the sale of the ranch to a non-aviator, the owner ceasing their flying activities, or an inability to justify the cost of maintenance for a private facility.

The site is currently part of a private ranch. The former runway is completely overgrown and unserviceable for any aviation use. While the outline of the airstrip is still visible from the air, the land has effectively reverted to pasture or agricultural use. A building that appears to be the former hangar still stands at the south end of the property, though its current use is unknown.

The airport's significance was purely local and private. It served as a personal landing strip for the owners and guests of the Flying W Ranch. Operations would have consisted of general aviation flights for recreational or business purposes related to the ranch. The single turf runway, measuring approximately 2,600 feet, was suitable for a variety of single-engine and light twin-engine propeller aircraft.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Flying W Ranch Airport. Any potential for reopening would be entirely dependent on the current or a future landowner having the desire and financial means to restore the runway and associated facilities. Given that it has been defunct for nearly a decade, the prospect of it returning to service is considered extremely low.
