Teramiranda Airport

This was not a traditional airport closure. The airstrip was a private feature of the 'Teramiranda' estate. The property was sold by its original owner, businessman Gene Bicknell, making the airstrip part of a new private holding. It did not close due to economic failure, accidents, or military conversion in the typical sense.

The airstrip remains intact and visible on the property, which is now a private estate under new ownership. Satellite imagery shows the paved surface and the main estate buildings are well-maintained. The entire site is private property and is not accessible to the public. Its current use is at the discretion of the property owners and it is not operated as an airport.

The 'Teramiranda Airport' (a non-official name associated with the unofficial ICAO identifier US-10680) was a private airstrip and dragstrip located on the massive 'Teramiranda' estate in Afton, Oklahoma. Built by Pizza Hut franchisee magnate Gene Bicknell, the strip was an amenity for his personal use, accommodating private aircraft and recreational drag racing. Its significance is not in public aviation but as a symbol of the extravagant, multi-million dollar private estate it served. It never handled commercial or public general aviation operations.

There are no known prospects or plans for this private strip to be converted or reopened as a public airport. It continues to exist as a feature of a large, privately-owned residential estate.
