Krebs Airport

However, as a small, privately-owned airfield, the closure was most likely due to personal reasons of the owner, such as retirement from flying, the sale of the property, or the owner's passing, making the upkeep and liability of an active runway impractical. There is no indication it was closed due to a specific accident, regulatory action, or economic failure beyond the personal costs of operation.

The airport is permanently closed and the land has been converted for agricultural use. Current satellite imagery shows that the former runway area has been plowed over and is now part of the surrounding cultivated farmland. The faint outline of the north-south runway is still visible from the air, but it is no longer a distinct or usable surface. The hangars and buildings formerly associated with the airport appear to remain on the property, likely repurposed for farm storage.

Krebs Airport was a private-use general aviation airfield. It was not depicted on aeronautical charts in the 1970s but appeared by 1981. It featured a single north-south turf runway (Runway 18/36) with a length of approximately 2,600 feet. Its operations were limited to serving the recreational and personal transportation needs of its owner and possibly invited private pilots. It held no major commercial or military significance and was a typical example of a small, private American airstrip.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Krebs Airport. The conversion of the land to agricultural use makes its return to aviation service highly improbable.
