Mesa View Ranch Airport

The airport was a private-use airstrip exclusively serving the Mesa View Ranch. Closures of such facilities are typically due to private reasons rather than public or regulatory action. The most probable cause of closure was a change in the property's ownership, a decision by the owner to cease aviation activities due to high maintenance costs, or the owner no longer being an active pilot. It was not closed due to a specific accident, military conversion, or broader economic downturn affecting public infrastructure.

The site is currently part of the private Mesa View Ranch. The physical runway is no longer maintained and has largely reverted to natural rangeland. The faint outline of the airstrip is still visible in satellite imagery as a linear feature in the landscape, but it is overgrown with vegetation and is unusable for any aviation purposes. The land is used for ranching and agricultural activities consistent with the surrounding area.

Mesa View Ranch Airport held no major historical significance in a public or commercial context. Its purpose was purely functional and private. It consisted of a single, unpaved north-south runway. The airport provided direct, convenient air access to a large, remote ranch property for its owners and guests. Operations would have been limited to light, single-engine general aviation aircraft capable of operating from a short, unimproved dirt or gravel strip. It served as a utility for ranching, hunting, and personal transportation, bypassing the need to travel via unpaved rural roads.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Mesa View Ranch Airport. As it is located on private property, any decision to restore and reopen the airstrip would be entirely at the discretion and expense of the current landowner. Given the existence of the public-use Craig-Moffat Airport (KCAG) located approximately 15 miles to the southeast, there is no public need or demand for this private airstrip to be reactivated.
