Hille-Kimp Airstrip

Economic reasons. The land was converted from a private airstrip back into productive, irrigated cropland. This is a common fate for private farm strips when the land's agricultural value outweighs its aviation utility, or when farm operations or ownership changes. There is no evidence of closure due to an accident or military conversion.

The site is currently active agricultural land. The former runway area has been fully reclaimed for farming and is now irrigated by a center-pivot system that sweeps across the old location. While a faint outline of the former north-south dirt runway is still visible on some satellite images, the airstrip is completely gone and non-functional.

Hille-Kimp Airstrip was a private, agricultural airstrip, likely named after the farm's owners. Its significance was purely local, primarily supporting the farming operations on the surrounding land. It was likely used for personal aircraft and for aerial application (crop dusting), a common practice in the agriculturally-intensive Columbia Basin of Washington. It had no public, commercial, or military role. The identifier US-10266 is not an official ICAO code but an internal designation used by some third-party databases.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airstrip. The land has been repurposed for high-value irrigated agriculture, making a return to aviation use extremely unlikely.
