The airport was a private facility, likely associated with the Hatton Ranch on which it was located. The closure was not due to a specific accident or military conversion. The most probable reason is abandonment by the private owner due to a change in ownership, the owner ceasing aviation activities, or finding the airstrip no longer necessary or economical to maintain.

The airport is permanently closed and has been completely reclaimed by nature. Current satellite imagery shows the former runway area is now an indistinguishable part of the surrounding pasture or hay field. There are no remaining aviation facilities, markings, or buildings. The land is used for agricultural purposes, likely cattle grazing or farming.

Hatton Ranch Airport held no major historical significance in a public or military context. Its importance was purely private, serving as a personal airstrip for the owners and guests of the Hatton Ranch. Operations would have been limited to light, single-engine aircraft capable of using a short, unpaved runway (approximately 2,600 feet). Its purpose was likely for personal transportation, recreation, or agricultural support for the ranch.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Hatton Ranch Airport. As the land is privately owned and the airstrip has been fully returned to agricultural use, reopening would require a significant private investment to completely reconstruct the runway and facilities. Given the availability of the nearby Talihina Municipal Airport (K34) for public use, there is no practical driver for its restoration.
