Entenmann's Heliport

The heliport's closure was a direct consequence of the closure of the Entenmann's bakery plant it served. The parent company, Bimbo Bakeries USA, shut down the Bay Shore manufacturing facility in July 2014 for economic and strategic reasons, citing the age of the plant and the need to consolidate production into more modern and efficient locations. With the factory closed, the private heliport became obsolete.

The heliport no longer exists. Following the bakery's closure in 2014, the entire 14.5-acre site, including the factory buildings and the heliport area, was sold and subsequently demolished. The property has been completely redeveloped into a modern industrial park known as the 'Entenmann's Logistics Center,' which consists of large-scale warehouse and distribution facilities.

Entenmann's Heliport was a private aviation facility located on the grounds of the iconic Entenmann's bakery headquarters in Bay Shore. Its primary function was to provide rapid transportation for the Entenmann family and top company executives. It allowed them to bypass Long Island's notorious traffic for business meetings in New York City and for travel to other regional airports. The heliport was a symbol of the company's significant success and its status as a major Long Island-based enterprise before its acquisition by larger corporations. It exclusively handled private helicopter operations related to the company's business.

There are zero plans or prospects for reopening the heliport. The original purpose for its existence is gone, and the land has been permanently repurposed for industrial logistics. The new development does not include any aviation facilities.
