Whites Airport

Common reasons for such closures include the owner's retirement from flying, sale of the property, the high cost of maintenance and insurance, or the owner's passing. The subsequent conversion of the land to full agricultural use suggests there was no intent to continue aviation operations.

The site of the former airport is now private agricultural land. The area that once contained the north-south grass runway has been fully converted into a field used for crops or pasture. While a very faint outline of the former runway can sometimes be discerned in satellite photos, there is no remaining aviation infrastructure on the site. The nearby buildings are associated with the adjacent farm, and there are no hangars, windsock bases, or runway markers left.

Whites Airport was a privately owned, private-use turf airstrip. Its name strongly suggests it was owned by and named after the White family for personal use. It was a recognized feature in the local aviation community for several decades, appearing on VFR Sectional Charts from at least the 1970s through the early 2000s. Its primary function was to support general aviation, serving as a base for the owner's personal aircraft for recreational flying or transportation. It did not handle any commercial, military, or scheduled operations.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Whites Airport. The land has been actively farmed for over a decade, and re-establishing an airfield would require the current landowner to cease agricultural production and make a significant capital investment to restore the runway. Given that it was a small private strip, the likelihood of it ever being reopened for aviation is virtually zero.
