Kerch Airport (UKFK (KHC)) is not currently operational for commercial passenger flights, and therefore, there are no recent traveler reviews or experiences to summarize. Commercial airline services to and from Kerch Airport ceased operations in 2008 due to high expenses and low profitability. Attempts to resume flights between 2005 and 2006 were unsuccessful.

Recent reports from June 2025 indicate that the airport is being converted from a civilian facility to a military base by Russian authorities. Satellite imagery from February and June 2025 shows ongoing construction, including the installation of protective and camouflage structures around the runway. Experts suggest these changes are for supporting drone operations or housing short-range air defense systems. On March 4, 2025, part of the airport's land was officially transferred to Russia's Defense Ministry.

Previously, the airport was described as being in poor condition, with the runway needing repair and facilities being inadequate. An older review from 2011 characterized it as "very dull, old, abandoned" with "very very very bad facilities and ATC". It was also noted to have "no equipment and no fire fighters". Before its military conversion, the airport area was used as a truck holding area for freight vehicles.
