The sole scheduled carrier is Aurora, which operates flights to and from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (UUS) using turboprop aircraft suitable for the runway's length. Passenger volume is modest, reflecting the small local population and specialized nature of tourism to the island. Flights are notoriously subject to delays and cancellations due to the Kuril Islands' volatile weather, particularly dense fog, strong winds, and winter snow.
