Suntar Airport (IATA: SUY, ICAO: UENS) is a small regional aerodrome that serves as an essential transportation link for the village of Suntar and the surrounding Suntarsky District in the vast Sakha Republic (Yakutia) of Russia. Its primary role is to provide reliable, year-round access for passengers, mail, and critical cargo to a remote region where ground transportation is often difficult or impossible due to challenging terrain and extreme weather conditions. Operations at Suntar Airport are exclusively domestic. It does not handle international flights. The primary air traffic consists of scheduled passenger services connecting Suntar with the regional hub, Yakutsk Airport (YKS). These vital routes are operated by regional carriers such as Polar Airlines and Yakutia Airlines, which typically utilize rugged turboprop aircraft like the Antonov An-24, well-suited for the airport’s unpaved runway and harsh operating environment. Flight schedules can be subject to change, particularly during winter, due to severe weather. Passenger volume is modest, catering mainly to the local population.

The airport facilities are basic and functional, designed to meet essential traveler needs. A single, small terminal building houses a check-in area, a waiting hall, and security screening points. Visitors should not expect amenities such as restaurants, business lounges, or retail shops. Services are limited to the core functions of processing passengers and baggage. For travelers, it is advisable to arrive approximately 90 minutes before a scheduled departure. Transport to and from the airport should be arranged in advance where possible. As all connecting flights to wider Russia and beyond are routed through Yakutsk, passengers should allow ample time for transfers to accommodate potential weather-related delays on regional services.
