Kırıkkale High Specialization Hospital Helipad

The 'closure' of the ICAO code was due to the facility being superseded. In 2018, the new, state-of-the-art Kırıkkale City Hospital (Kırıkkale Şehir Hastanesi) opened nearby. This new hospital features a modern rooftop helipad which became the primary registered destination for air ambulance services in the region. Consequently, the older, ground-level helipad at the High Specialization Hospital was no longer the primary facility, leading to the retirement of its official designator.

Despite its ICAO code being listed as 'closed', the physical helipad at the Kırıkkale High Specialization Hospital remains fully intact and operational. Satellite imagery shows a clearly marked, ground-level helipad adjacent to the hospital building. Local news reports and videos from recent years confirm that it is still actively used by air ambulances for patient transfers directly to the High Specialization Hospital. It now functions as a secondary or specific-use helipad for the city.

Prior to the opening of the new City Hospital, the Kırıkkale High Specialization Hospital Helipad was the main air medical facility for the entire Kırıkkale province. Its operations were exclusively dedicated to Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS). It played a vital role in the regional healthcare system by enabling the rapid transport of critically ill and injured patients via air ambulance, connecting remote areas and other hospitals to the specialized care offered at this hospital.

The concept of 'reopening' is not applicable as the helipad never ceased to be functional. It remains in active service. However, it is highly unlikely that the official ICAO designator TR-0065 will be reinstated, as the helipad at the new Kırıkkale City Hospital is the officially recognized primary facility. The helipad will continue to operate in its current capacity without needing a formal 'reopening'.
