Official, licensed taxi services are available directly outside the arrivals hall. It is recommended to use these authorized companies and agree on the fare before starting your trip. A ride to the city center (Plaza de Armas) typically takes 20-30 minutes and costs around S/ 25-35. Ride-sharing services like Uber and Cabify also operate in Arequipa and can be booked via their respective mobile apps for pickup at the airport.
Several car rental agencies have desks inside the airport's arrivals area, including major international brands like Hertz, Avis, and Budget, as well as local providers. It is highly recommended to book your vehicle in advance online for better rates and to ensure availability. An International Driving Permit may be required in addition to your standard driver's license.
There are no dedicated airport bus or shuttle services to the city center. The most economical option is to use local minibusses, known as 'combis'. To catch one, you must walk from the terminal to the main road (Avenida Aviación). This option is very cheap but can be confusing and inconvenient for travelers with luggage or those unfamiliar with the local routes.
