Breves Airport (IATA: BVS, ICAO: SNVS) serves as the primary air transportation hub for the city of Breves and the vast Marajó Archipelago in the Brazilian state of Pará. In a region where river transport is the traditional mode of travel, the airport provides a vital and time-efficient link for residents, commerce, and essential services. Its role is crucial for connecting this relatively remote Amazonian area to the state capital, Belém, significantly reducing travel times for passenger transit, cargo transport, and critical aero-medical evacuations that would otherwise take many hours by boat.

Inaugurated on January 19, 1980, the airport was developed to enhance regional integration and was long administered by the federal agency Infraero. More recently, its management was transferred to the private sector as part of a national airport concession program aimed at modernizing regional infrastructure. The airport is conveniently situated just 4 kilometers southwest of the Breves city center. This close proximity ensures straightforward access for travelers, with the journey to or from the terminal typically taking only a few minutes by local taxi or motorcycle taxi ("mototáxi"), the common forms of transport in the city.

Operations at Breves Airport are entirely domestic, focusing on connecting the Marajó region with larger urban centers. The main scheduled commercial service is provided by Azul Conecta, a regional subsidiary of Azul Linhas Aéreas, which operates regular flights to Val-de-Cans International Airport (BEL) in Belém. These routes are serviced by small, durable aircraft, such as the Cessna Grand Caravan, which are well-suited for the operational demands of regional airfields. Beyond scheduled passenger flights, the airport also supports general aviation, air taxi charters, and governmental aircraft.

Reflecting its function as a small regional facility, the airport's infrastructure is simple and practical. The single terminal building provides basic amenities, including a check-in area, a passenger waiting lounge, and restrooms. Travelers should note that there are minimal to no dining or retail options available within the terminal. It is advisable for passengers to arrive approximately 60 to 90 minutes before their scheduled departure. Given the airport's small scale and point-to-point flight schedule, travelers do not need to navigate complex terminal connections. Ground transportation is generally available upon arrival, but arranging it beforehand can provide additional peace of mind.
