🇧🇴 Yacuiba Airport

Yacuiba Airport (SLYA, BYC) is a public civil airport located approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) north of Yacuiba, in the Tarija Department of Bolivia. It serves as a regional hub for domestic air travel and cross-border connectivity with neighboring Argentina, primarily handling domestic flights within Bolivia.

The airport features a single asphalt-surfaced runway, designated 02/20, measuring 2,100 meters (6,890 feet) in length. It is situated in a north-south aligned valley at an elevation of 2,116 feet (645 meters) above sea level. Yacuiba Airport is equipped with a non-directional beacon (NDB) for approach guidance. The facility was inaugurated on March 11, 1998, and was originally named "Campo Grande".

Currently, Yacuiba Airport is managed by Navegación Aérea y Aeropuertos Bolivianos (NAABOL). It is primarily served by Boliviana de Aviación (BoA), offering scheduled domestic flights to major Bolivian cities such as La Paz, Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz de la Sierra. While it functions as an entry point, the airport lacks on-site customs services, largely limiting its operations to domestic and private international flights. Modernization efforts are underway to enhance passenger services, including amenities like free Wi-Fi and secure parking. As of recent reports, the airport generally experiences quiet traffic, with security wait times averaging around 5 minutes and immigration processing at approximately 11 minutes.
