Hrádok Airport

Land redevelopment for energy production. The primary reason for the airport's closure was economic. The land was sold and repurposed for the construction of a large-scale photovoltaic power plant (solar farm), which was deemed a more profitable use for the site.

The site is no longer an airport. The former runway, taxiways, and adjacent cleared areas are now completely covered by a large photovoltaic power plant, often referred to as the 'Lieskovec Solar Park' or 'Zvolen-Hrádok Solar Park'. The distinct outline of the former runway is still visible from satellite imagery, but it is entirely occupied by rows of solar panels. The aviation infrastructure has been permanently removed.

Hrádok Airport was a local general aviation airfield serving the city of Zvolen and the surrounding region. Its significance was primarily for sport and recreational flying. It was operated by the local aeroclub, Aeroklub Zvolen. Operations included:
- Glider launches and soaring.
- Training for private pilots (PPL).
- Recreational flights for ultralight and light sport aircraft.
- A base for local aviation enthusiasts.
It did not handle commercial or significant military traffic, but it was an important hub for the local general aviation community for several decades.

There are no known plans or realistic prospects for reopening the airport. The conversion of the site into a major solar power plant is a permanent change of use. The significant investment in the energy infrastructure and the long-term contracts associated with it make a return to aviation activities prohibitively expensive and practically impossible. The local aviation community has since relocated its activities to other nearby airports, such as Sliač Airport (LZSL) and Očová Airport (LZOC).
