Official, authorized airport taxis are available 24/7 outside the arrivals hall. For safety and a fixed rate, it is highly recommended to use the pre-paid voucher system. Purchase a ticket from the official taxi counter inside the terminal before exiting.
Several major international and local car rental companies, including Avis, Budget, Hertz, and Localiza, have desks located in the arrivals area. Booking in advance is advisable. An International Driving Permit may be required in addition to your valid driver's license.
The city's Metrovía bus rapid transit (BRT) system serves the airport. The 'Terminal Terrestre - Aeropuerto' station is a short walk from the terminal. This is the most economical option, but it can be crowded and may be difficult with large luggage. A rechargeable Metrovía card is required to ride.
Although my time in Ecuador wasn’t that great, this airport became my favourite during my trip in South America. Uncomplicated, clean, spacious, plenty of seating areas with direct view of the runway.
