The airport is situated approximately 18 kilometers north of Colina and about 47 km north of Santiago's city center, with coordinates 33°03′03″S 70°42′32″W and an elevation of 652 meters (2,139 feet) above sea level.
The facility features a single asphalt runway, designated 03/21, measuring 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) in length and 20 meters (66 feet) in width. Established in the 1960s, the airport's name, "La Victoria de Chacabuco," commemorates the 1817 Battle of Chacabuco, a significant event in Chile's fight for independence. The runway was paved in 2016, upgrading from its original earth surface.
