Approximately 2020-2021. This estimate is based on analysis of historical satellite imagery, which shows the building housing the heliport was present in 2020 and was cleared for new construction by 2021.
Urban redevelopment and modernization. The heliport was situated on a building within the Hospital de Policía 'Rigoberto Caballero' complex. This building was demolished as part of a large-scale project to construct new, modern hospital facilities on the site.
The original heliport and the building it was on no longer exist. The site has been completely redeveloped. As of recent observations, the area is occupied by a newly constructed, multi-story hospital building, which is part of the modernized Hospital de Policía complex.
PY-0067 was a private rooftop heliport dedicated to serving the Hospital de Policía 'Rigoberto Caballero' (the National Police Hospital, sometimes referred to as Hospital San Jorge). Its sole and critical function was to support medical operations, specifically handling helicopter medical evacuations (MEDEVAC) and emergency patient transfers. It played a vital role in the emergency services infrastructure for the National Police of Paraguay, enabling rapid transport of critically injured personnel from accident scenes or remote locations directly to the hospital, bypassing city traffic.
The specific heliport PY-0067 will not reopen, as its physical structure has been permanently removed. However, it is standard practice for new, large-scale hospital constructions to include a modern rooftop helipad. Therefore, it is highly probable that a new heliport has been or will be commissioned on one of the new buildings within the complex to continue the essential MEDEVAC mission. This new facility would likely be assigned a new ICAO designator.
