Mikołajki Airport

Economic reasons and land redevelopment. The airport was located on a prime piece of lakeside real estate on a peninsula next to the town center. The land was sold and redeveloped for a large-scale tourism project, as this was deemed a more profitable use for the valuable property.

The site of the former airport has been completely and permanently redeveloped. It is now occupied by the 'Hotel Mikołajki Leisure & SPA', a large, modern hotel complex with buildings, parking lots, a marina, and recreational facilities. There are no visible remnants of the former runway or any aviation infrastructure.

Mikołajki Airport was a private grass airstrip (in Polish: lądowisko) that primarily served the general aviation community. Its main purpose was to support tourism in Mikołajki, a major resort town in the heart of Poland's Masurian Lake District. It allowed private pilots and their passengers to fly directly to the popular holiday destination, providing convenient access for recreational and tourist flights. It handled small propeller aircraft and was a key asset for aviation tourism in the region before its closure.

None. A reopening at the original location is impossible due to the permanent hotel development that now occupies the entire site. There are no known official plans or active proposals to build a new airport to serve Mikołajki at a different location. The nearest public-use airport is Kętrzyn-Wilamowo Airport (EPKE), located approximately 25 km to the north.
